Jeffrey Leiker is a former County Prosecutor who has been able to devote his practice to the areas of family and juvenile law for the last several years. Practicing exclusively within the District Court of Kansas, Mr. Leiker has developed a firm that is extremely efficient at analyzing cases within this state, specifically within the Douglas, Franklin, Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami, Shawnee, and Wyandotte County District Courts. Jeff obtained a degree in Biology from the University of Kansas in 1998, and he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the Washburn University of Law in 2001.
Starting his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kansas City, Mr. Leiker was primarily assigned during his time there to litigating child abuse and neglect cases. His trial experience is second to very few within the state, where he has first-chaired over 20 jury trials since 2001 that involved either a homicide or high level sex offense.
In 2006 Mr. Leiker changed gears from prosecuting criminal cases and formed Leiker Law Office P.A. to represent clients in the private sector with various family law issues. Leiker Law Office, P.A. is a family law firm dedicated to providing the highest quality service and representation to clients seeking assistance with divorce, paternity, custody, domestic violence cases, and appeals. Jeff is extremely supportive to resolve these cases amicably, utilizing collaborative divorce methods or mediation. However, the time often comes where a proven and aggressive trial attorney is necessary to protect your rights. Jeff’s unmatched experience at trial in both high level criminal cases and complex divorce matters over the past 15 years uniquely qualifies him to best represent your interests. Being involved in a family law matter like a divorce can present extraordinarily difficult challenges for anyone, both emotionally and financially. Leiker Law Office, P.A. can provide clients with comfort and knowledge that the firm representing them has proven results in every family court division in Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, and Douglas counties.
Although Mr. Leiker has now chosen to focus almost exclusively on family law cases since leaving the District Attorney’s office in 2006, Jeff remains a strong presence within the criminal law legal community. In 2013, Mr. Leiker was appointed by the Governor to sit on the Kansas State Board of Indigent Defense Services, and his appointment was unanimously confirmed by the Kansas Senate the following year. The Board elected Mr. Leiker Board Chairman in 2016. The Kansas State Board of Indigent Defense Services generally oversees all of the public defender offices within the State of Kansas, and the millions of dollars in state funding allocated to the same.
When not practicing law, you will find Jeff all over the Kansas City area attending events and activities with his wife and three daughters.
